Yes, I said it. Perhaps you would rather be eaten alive by lions than get in front of a crowd, but I would like to challenge you on that because introverts are uniquely qualified to speak in public.
I originally added public speaking for marketing purposes: Public speaking is a great way to get known as an expert in your field.
But I have found some unexpected benefits from public speaking, especially in sales. The more public speaking I do, the more comfortable I am during sales calls. Being an introvert, I used to have a difficult time with sales calls. But speaking in front of audiences has given me much more confidence during those times.
And there is a hidden bonus to public speaking.
Think of it, where else can you get in front of people, say exactly what you want to say without them interrupting, and leave without having to have a single conversation?
So, consider learning more about public speaking. Join a group like Toastmasters or take a class at your local community college. You will learn a lot, even if you think you are not good at public speaking now.
