Anything But Being Lonely

Holidays are festive times, but they are also the time when you may notice all the happy couples enjoying each other.

This is difficult for a single person, and you may feel more desperate to find someone to be with. Here are some things to do (and not do) over the holidays:

Do: Be yourself. Don’t try to act like someone you are not just to impress someone. You are awesome and you want a person around you that sees that.

Don’t: Drink too much. You already know what may happen. Our bodies process about 1 ounce of alcohol an hour, so try to make your drink last that long. Or alternate between a drink and a glass of water.

Do: Enjoy yourself. If you are an introvert, don’t stay at a party longer than you are having fun. And don’t give in to things your friends will say like “it won’t be the same without you,” (it will be close enough) or “but the fun is just starting” (The fun is just starting for them, not for you). Be comfortable with your introvert self.

Don’t: Worry about your introvert friends. If you are just starting to have fun at a party, and your friend wants to go home, find them a ride. Don’t push them; they are not having as much fun as you are. If you can’t, or don’t want to, take them home, there are other options. Call a cab or find them a ride with someone you know. But, if the person is female, a professional ride would be safer.
